We love a good microneedling session, but what should you expect before your first appointment? Don't worry, we got answers to all of your questions!

What is microneedling?

At Alchemy Face Bar, we use SkinPen the first FDA-cleared microneedling device in the world. The microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, which increases collagen and elastin production.

As part of the healing process, collagen and elastin are sent to the site of the micro-injuries. Many clients notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress through the course of several weeks. The damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final result for up to 3-6 months following your final session. Results can continue to improve up to six months after the treatment, as collagen production continues.

SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device in the world. First FDA-cleared microneedling device in U.S. Safe. Reliable. Backed by Science & Tech.

What is PRP?

What is amazing about the human body, is that it has the power to heal itself. For example, when you get a small cut on your skin, the body's blood vessels constrict to stop the bleeding, then release growth factors. These growth factors signal the body to start repairing the damage. The growth factors contain platelets, which are cells in our blood. What is microneedling with PRP? PRP is a concentration of these growth factors and platelets. When used with microneedling and applied to the micro-injuries, PRP can speed up the healing process naturally undergone by your body. The PRP, microneedled into the skin, promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles and creates smoother skin texture and tone.

What should you expect at your first appointment?

First, the blood is drawn from your arm. Then, the vial is put into a centrifuge that spins the blood to isolate the PRP. The treatment typically takes about an hour, depending on the size and number of areas treated. Topical numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure for about 15 minutes. The actual procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes. Generally, clients report feeling just the slight vibration of the SkinPen during the treatment.
